Last weekend, Sophia competed in her first official meet here in Texas -- the Kim Zmeskal Texas Prime Meet -- hosted by the gym she trains at - Texas Dreams! This was a great first meet for Sophia! She started on bars! She did an amazing routine - scored 9.325 for a 5th place finish. Next up - beam! Unfortunately, Sophia had a fall doing her 2 back handspring and a restart of her dismount and she she scored 8.750 - 7th place finish! Floor was her 3rd event for the morning! Her floor routine was AMAZING!! She walked away with a 9.600 and tied for 1st place!! Final event of the day was vault! Her first vault was not a pretty one so she and coach Ned opted for her to do a 2nd one! The second one she landed on her feet only to stumble backwards onto her bottom! She got an 8.625 and 9th place finish! Overall, Sophia placed 5th in her age group (senior) with a 36.300! Best level 8 meet for her so far! I am certain she will continue to improve!! Oh yeah! Her 9.600 floor score has her currently listed on the my meet scores website in the top 100 level 8 floor scores for 2016! Check out the link below!
