2013 Chicago Style Invitational

Well friends and family, it's been over a week since the Chicago trip and I now have finally found the time to write an update on the meet!  My apologies for taking so long but, today will be a 2 for 1 update - because Sophia competed yesterday at the Team Challenge Invitational in Connecticut!  So, here is the story about the Chicago meet!  As I said in the last update, we weren't sure if Sophia would feel well enough to compete after hurting her back!  Her coaches felt she was well enough to do it, so she did!!
The first event of the night was beam!  Sophia did well on her beam routine, with the exception of a fall doing the full turn!  She scored 8.800 but unfortunately did not place in her age group!  Here is the video of her beam routine.

The next event was floor!  Sophia did not disappoint and performed a beautiful floor routine!  She earned a 9.375 for a 4th place finish!  Enjoy the video of her floor routine!

The 3rd event of the night was vault!  Sophia did 2 nice looking vaults and received a 9.275 for a 6th place medal.  I did record both vaults - and here they are!!

The final event of the night was bars!  As all of you know, I am not a fan of bars being the last event of the night!  Sophia's bars were decent - not her best and not her worst!  She scored an 8.700 for a 14th place finish!  

Sophia's all-around score was 36.150 and earned her a 10th place finish in the 10& under age group!  There were 91 girls competing in her session -- 44 of which were in her age group!  The Elite level 6 team score was based on the top 4 scores from 5 of the gymnasts (names previously submitted by the coaches so we don't know exactly whose scores were used) - the team scored 147.75 for a 4th place finish (out of 35 teams!)
